What is Flow Yoga or Vinyasa Yoga?

Flow yoga or Vinyasa yoga is a type of yoga which involves different styles of yoga. The meaning of Vinyasa is "breath-synchronized movement." It consists of a series of smoothly flowing movements along with controlled inhaling and exhaling. The focus is on coordinating the body's movements with breathing resulting in a very controlled workout which helps in increasing your concentration. It is termed as flow yoga because the poses are done in an effortless manner resembling like a dance. Flow yoga is like moving meditation.

The flow yoga consists of an accompanying inhalation or exhalation with each movement. It is very important to attain this synchronization of movement and breath, as it will help in enhancing the positive effects of the flow yoga. The controlled breathing helps you in maintaining the right pace for the entire yoga session. Controlled breathing also helps in keeping the heart rate steady at all times and prevents you from hurrying through the difficult poses. The steady breathing also helps in maintaining a constant body temperature, which is very important while doing flow yoga, as the postures require you to stretch deeply and the additional heat cause the muscles to stretch more.
