Acne can really have significant social as well as psychological effects. In a recent study it is found that acne is linked with the development of depression. A study published in the British Journal Of Dermatology, suggests that the probability of developing major depression was about 18.5% among the people having acne and 12% among those who did not suffer from acne. The risk of depression was found to be strongest in the first 5 years after the diagnosis of acne and especially was high in the first year after the acne diagnosis.
