Few of these nail whitening methods are:

Whiten Your Nails with Whitening Toothpaste

Toothpastes contain mild abrasives which help to remove surface stains on the teeth. The same gentle abrasives also prove effective in getting rid of the surface stains on the nails. Toothpaste can be applied on the nails using a baby toothbrush and scrubbed gently for about 2 minutes, and then washed off to get sparkling white nails. The entire process may need to be repeated several times depending on the intensity of nail staining. It is best to use white coloured pasty toothpaste for the purpose rather than the blue or green gel-like toothpastes. Adding a bit of baking soda to the toothpaste enhances the effectiveness of this nail whitening method.

Lemon Juice Can Help Whiten the Nails

Lemon juice is a natural bleaching agent. Stains on the nails can be removed by simply rubbing the fingers with lemon for several minutes and then washing it away. Also, the nails can be soaked in lemon juice for some time and rinsed. Even a mix of baking soda and lemon juice can help to get rid of the nail stains. In this nail whitening method, half a lemon is squeezed into a plastic bowl, and some baking soda is added into it. This mixture is then blended to get a nice abrasive paste-like texture. Then, the paste is applied on the stained nails with an old toothbrush and scrubbed gently for a minute or two. Finally, the paste is rinsed away with water and the entire method is repeated if needed. When one has small cuts near their nails, they should avoid using this nail whitening method, as the acidity in lemon juice can cause a burning sensation on their skin.

Use Hydrogen Peroxide & Baking Soda for White Nails

Experts recommend using a paste made of 1 part 3% hydrogen peroxide, and 2 ½ parts baking soda for whitening the nails. This paste should be applied on the nails and allowed to sit for around 3 minutes before being washed off with lukewarm water.

Commercial Denture Cleaner Can Be An Effective Nail Whitener

For the purpose of whitening, the nails should be soaked for around 5 minutes in a solution of warm water with a few tablets of commercial denture cleaner dissolved in it. This method will get rid of nail stains and give you nice sparkling white nails.

Make Use of Nail Whitening Pencil

This is one of the latest nail whitening tools available. One can just buy a nail whitening pencil and apply it under the tips of their nails to make them look healthier and white in appearance. A nail whitening pencil almost gives the nail a more natural, French manicured look.

Use Base Coat to Avoid Nail Staining

Preventing nail staining is the best way to have pretty white nails. This can be done by using a base coat. A base coat guards the nail against stains, which can happen, especially from darker polish. When a base coat is applied, rather than sticking to the actual nail, the nail colour adheres to the base coat, making it easier to remove the nail polish and prevent staining as well.

Light Buffing helps Remove Stains and Whiten the Nails

The yellow stains are located on the top layer of the nails. By lightly buffing the nails, the top layers get removed along with some of the stains. Although this method of nail whitening is effective, buffing is not recommended since it can weaken the nails. However, if choosing to buff the nails, it is advisable to use clear strengthening polish later.

It should always be remembered that most of these techniques can dry the hands out, so applying a good moisturizer after using these nail whitening methods is a must. The flawless, sparkling, beautiful nails are definitely worth all the extra effort!
