Squat is an effective muscle toning exercise, but do squats make your legs bigger or smaller? Well, the fact is that squats work the hamstrings, glutes, calves and quadriceps, and hit multiple muscles simultaneously. While squats do help to shape and tone the buttocks, they also make the thighs and legs bigger. Working multiple muscles is great for burning lots of calories. But training many muscles with a single exercise also leads to building of those muscles causing them to increase in size. It is because of this reason that squats consequently increases the size of the legs. In long term, squats help to boost the metabolism. Squats increase the performer’s ability to burn more calories and help them lose weight, and especially get a toned and lean core. However, squats do not prove very effective in getting rid of fat on the thighs.
Squats are definitely great for enhancing the strength, toning the body and the butt, but one can get all these benefits from other exercises, that do not make the legs bigger, as well. Ones who wish to have lean legs, would not get their desired look by doing heavy squats, unless they are the ectomorph body type and do not easily gain muscle or fat.

The Emphasis of Squats

These days, squats are being advocated everywhere. Many trainers people believe that squats do not make the performer too muscular. But having too much muscle on the legs depends on an individual’s personal choice. For example, a woman’s legs may look amazing to some people, while they might seem too muscular to others. So the people should avoid squatting if they do not wish to achieve such muscular legs themselves.

Doing Squats Will Make Your Thighs Bigger Or Smaller?

Doing Squats Will Make Your Thighs Bigger Or Smaller?

Squats will make your thighs bigger by increasing the thigh muscles bulk. If one continues to squat, they continue to grow their leg muscles. Even when doing lower weight and higher rep, these muscles are still being used. By doing squats, one may not build as much muscle compared to heavy lifting, but they still continue to work these muscles and cause an increase in their size. For decreasing the size of the leg muscle, one needs to stop squatting and doing other exercises which target these muscles too.

Does Dieting Help In Reducing The Size Of The Thighs?

Diet proves useful in reducing the fat from the entire body, including the fat from the legs. However, even dieting and eating better would not help to decrease the size of the legs, if the individual continues to squat. It should be remembered that one can also build muscle at a calorie deficit, and lose weight without changing the size of their thighs.

Conclusion

Squats make the thighs and legs bigger. Squats increase the size of the leg muscles, especially glutes, quads, and hamstrings, by building the muscles. Hence, squats make the overall legs look bigger. By continuing squatting, a person would not be able to reduce the muscle bulk, and their thighs and legs would continue to grow in size.
