Monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance or MGUS is a premalignant condition that has a negligible impact on the health of a person. It is marked by the presence of abnormal proteins, paraproteins or M proteins. It is a slowly progressive disease that has a tendency to progress to cancer. It is asymptomatic and is many times detected accidentally in a blood test. It leads to an accumulation of paraproteins in the bone marrow that can travel to other parts when overcrowded. Lifestyle changes can disrupt the abnormal production of paraproteins and progression of the disease.

Lifestyle changes that can help in monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance and restrict its progress to cancer are following-

Dietary Changes For Monoclonal Gammopathy Of Undetermined Significance

Consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables help in enhancement of overall health of a person. It supercharges the body with essential nutrients and vitamins along with antioxidants. Consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables limits, the production of free radicals in the body. This slows down the progress of monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance to cancer. Frozen or pickled Vegetables do not carry sufficient nutritional value. On the other hand, they have the risk of cancer for MGUS patients.

Fast food items such as fries, pasta, chips or pizza and deep fried food release free radicals that can damage the healthy cells in the body. They can increase the levels of M proteins resulting in cancer.

Curcumin found in turmeric has been recently found to be effective in lowering the levels of paraprotein and using it is a good lifestyle change. It also purifies the blood that can filter the abnormal plasma cells and kill them. It can prevent the progress of monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance to serious complications. Allicin found in garlic should also be used in the food to restrict the overproduction of abnormal cells that can cause cancer.

These proteins are formed from the white blood cells. They are produced by plasma cells in the bone marrow. These proteins are formed when the body reacts to combat any infection. They are formed instead of antibodies. They circulate in the blood and remain in stable levels for years without causing a symptom.
