How Can I Cleanse My Lymphatic System Naturally?

The lymphatic system is a vast system like the circulatory system. The components of the lymphatic system are lymph fluid, lymphatic vessels the lymph travels & the organs that contain the lymphatic tissue (lymph nodes, thymus, & spleen).

How Can I Cleanse My Lymphatic System Naturally?

The following are some of the ways to cleanse your lymphatic system naturally:

Hydration Can Cleanse Your Lymphatic System Naturally

95% of lymph is water; therefore adequate hydration is essential for the healthy flow of lymphatic fluid. One of the common causes for congestion of lymph is dehydration. So, drink at least eight, 8 ounce glasses of water daily to maintain adequate hydration in the body. Remember water is the best fluid to hydrate your body.

You can add lemon to your water & have it. Lemon is an alkaline fruit that helps to mineralize the body & lymph. Do not drink too much of lemon juice as it can damage the tooth enamel, & can cause stomach ulcers.

Exercise Can Cleanse Your Lymphatic System Naturally

Daily exercises are a good way to stimulate your lymph flow. Do exercises at least 30 minutes every day such as running, brisk walking.

Rebounding

This is one of the easiest way to pump the lymph. Rebounding is basically jumping on a mini trampoline either in gentle bounces or in complete jumps where you rise 6 inches from the surface. You can do 15 minutes or more for a day, you can break it into 3-5 minutes’ groups & do as well. Rebounding increases the lymphatic drainage & immunity. It also has lots of other health advantages as well.

Dry Brushing

Another way to cleanse your lymphatic system naturally is by dry brushing. Dry brushing is an Ayurvedic treatment method to improve lymphatic drainage & blood circulation. What you have to do is take a dry brush & brush the skin towards the heart.

Consume Raw Foods

Raw vegetables, fruits are very good for your lymphatic system as well as your whole body. Raw foods have high amounts of antioxidants/enzymes which breakdown harmful substances & help remove the toxins out of the body. Most of the raw foods are primarily alkaline & the pathological organisms won’t have a chance to invade your body. This will reduce the burden on the lymphatic system. Some lymphatic cleansing foods are dark green vegetables, sea kelp, ginger, citrus fruits such as lemons & oranges, flax seeds, wheatgrass juice, radishes, cranberry, cherries & garlic.

Herbs

Many herbs have been beneficial in improving the lymphatic system, the exact mechanism is not known, but it has proven to increase the lymphatic flow & drainage & dispose the toxic substances.

  • Red clover – this herb increases the lymphatic drainage, helps detoxify the toxins & reduces the inflammation.
  • Cleavers/clivers – one of the tonics that stimulate & increase lymphatic drainage.
  • Manjistha – it can destagnate the lymph.

Yoga

Yoga makes your body muscles contract & relax which helps the lymph to flow continuously throughout the body. This reduces the congestion & helps in the detoxification of the waste products in the lymphatic system.

Massage

Lymphatic massage is a special type of massage which is done to improve the flow of lymph throughout the lymphatic system.

The functions of the lymphatic system are:

  • Fights infection & mediate immunity against infections. Through the lymphatic system your immune cells travel through your body fighting of the internal & external infections, removing toxins & cell debris.
  • Drain the interstitial fluid & maintain the fluid homeostasis between the blood & tissue fluid.
  • Absorb & transports fatty acids & fats as chyle from the digestive system.

How Does Lymph Flow?

The circulation of lymph occurs with muscle contraction from exercise & movement. The main problem with the lymphatic system is there is no pump to circulate the lymph. Therefore, it can be easily stagnant, especially when the lymphatic system is overwhelmed. This can reduce your immunity level & you will be more prone for infections. This can also cause cellulite, edema, chronic pain, swollen glands, eczema, & sinusitis. Therefore, it’s important to maintain a strong, healthy lymphatic system.

Summary

Lymph can be easily stagnant in the lymphatic system as it does not have a pump. The lymph flow occurs with muscle contractions, gravitational forces & internal massage. Therefore, stimulating the natural flow mechanisms increase the lymph flow, help detoxify the waste products & make the immune system stronger. You can cleanse the lymphatic system by hydrating yourself adequately, exercising daily & rebounding, dry brushing, consuming raw foods & herbs, by doing yoga & massage.
