A thick and tough tissue extends from the heel to the toes of the human body. This is an important tissue which supports the muscles as well as the arch of the foot. However, it is seen many times people feel sharp pain and inflammation in the muscles and arch of the foot. This happens when this tissue gets excessively stretched. This pain is medically called as plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis is mostly seen in those persons who involve in running, jogging, cycling, climbing, dancing, or aerobics. In order to avoid plantar fasciitis, it is always recommended to stretch the lower legs, ankles, and feet regularly. Massage plays a great role in healing plantar fasciitis. Massage is the only way which helps you to loosen the tight muscles and with that, you will feel much relaxation. The massage therapy that is commonly given in the treatment of plantar fasciitis is called as deep tissue massage. Deep tissue massage is actually a technique in which a deep finger pressure is applied to the fascia, Achilles heel, as well as in the calf muscles of the human body. With such deep pressure, the muscle tissue gets released. With deep massage, the pressure is applied to a specific area which helps to loosen the muscle tissues and thereby, it enables to remove the toxins in the muscles. As a result what happens is that the blood can circulate the oxygen properly into that area. In deep tissue massage, muscles are generally squeezed, pulled and twisted due to which lactic acid gets removed from the tissue. This helps in improving the lymph fluid circulation which helps in removing all the metabolic wastes that may have produced in that area.


It is also advisable to drink a lot of water along with the deep massage so that the toxin present in the muscles can be removed properly from the body. However, if you have any types of wounds in that area or in case you have any surgery or if you have osteoporosis then deep tissue massage should be avoided. Apart from that if you have a history of blood clot then you should not go for deep tissue massage. This is because due to deep tissue massage it may happen that the blood clot displaces from its area and get placed in that area of plantar fasciitis or elsewhere in the body. In such case, you will get into more trouble and so it is better to avoid deep tissue massage in such case.


Thus, any kind of massage therapy especially deep tissue massage plays a big role in the treatment of plantar fasciitis. Massage therapy promotes the blood circulation, helps to remove the metabolic waste product that is produced in the body. As a result, it is found that massage therapy helps to trigger a feeling of relaxation and pleasure to the patient of the plantar fasciitis.
