Your doctor would then do a pelvic exam, check your vagina for any thinning or redness in or around it. This exam will help rule out other possible causes for your vaginal discomfort, including urinary tract infection or vaginal infections. A Pap test may also be done to remove and test cells from the walls of your vagina or cervix.
