13 Weird Noises That Our Body Makes & Its Indications

Sneezing

Sneezing is one of the weird noises that your body makes. This may be triggered by anything from a virus to bright lights, which can stimulate a reflex response running from your brain to your diaphragm. So, if you are sneezing, it means that there are viral infections or allergies that you are encountered with. Though you may not take sneezing very seriously, you must note that it is the time of a big worry when there are chronic attacks and this may warrant allergy testing.

Whistling In Your Nose

One more weird noise that your body makes is whistling in your nose. This means there is an obstruction in airflow and this may mean excess mucus is lining in your nasal passages. You must clear things out with a decongestant in case you have cold, or with an antihistamine in case it is the allergy. Now, if you suffered a nasal trauma, whistling from your nose may indicate a tear in the cartilage between the nostrils and you must really worry about it. This, however, is repairable by an ENT or plastic surgeon.

Whooshing In Your Ears

Whooshing that you hear while you are lying with your head on a pillow, could be one more weird noise that is made by your body. Now what it means is, the blood is moving through your carotid artery and jugular vein, running behind your ear. This sound becomes noticeable when external noise is blocked. Whooshing you hear all day may be because of an infection or allergies. Whooshing in ears can also be because of congestion in the Eustachian tube, which connects the nose and throat to the middle ear. It gets clear on its own or you can take antibiotic or decongestant. Now when to worry? Whooshing without an obstructed hearing is what you must worry, as this could mean a blood vessel blockage or abnormality. You must reach your doctor for this.

Ringing In Your Ears

Ringing in one or both the ear is known as Tinnitus. Ringing in ears may mean that infections, aging, or very loud noise has damaged hair cells in the inner ear that translate sound waves in to electrical signals. This results in your cochlea sending signals to the brain even when no sound waves come in. You must consult your doctor if a phantom sound lasts more than two days or is accompanied by pain or vertigo.

Farting

One more weird noise that your body makes and you must be embarrassed about is farting. Farting is an indicator that your gut flora are digesting high fiber foods, such as beans and cruciferous vegetables. The by-products like methane, nitrogen and hydrogen gases, are expelled through your rectum. You must give your digestive system time to adjust to a fiber-rich diet. Fiber has been linked to lower cholesterol, slimmer waistline and a better bowel health. You must, however; worry when flatulence with cramping and diarrhea that occurs after eating dairy; as this could indicate lactose intolerance. Having such symptoms after drinking soda or fruit juice, may be because of a digestive disorder known as fructose malabsorption.

Hiccups

Hiccups can also be listed under the weird noises that your body makes. Having hiccups means your diaphragm spasms, causing an inhale that is, abruptly stopping by the glottis or a part of the larynx. The diaphragm is partially controlled by the vagus and phrenic nerves, which can be stimulated by nervousness, excitement, certain medications or stomach distention after a big meal. You can halt them by holding your breath, which ups the levels of carbon dioxide in the lungs and may relax the diaphragm. However, keep it noted that in case your hiccups last longer than 48 hours, seek medical care so as to rule out nerve irritation or a problem in central nervous system.

Belching

Belching is the sound of air escaping the stomach. You must not be surprised that it is usually because of swallowing air.

Your Vagina Queefing

There is another weird noise that you must feel embarrassed about and that is, your vagina queefing. This is the sound of an air pocket being pushed out of your vagina. Air can get trapped there, when the vaginal opening closes during any physical activity or during sex. Some exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor may help keep air from getting in your vagina in the first place.

You must consult your doctor if you notice a foul odor or in case you find stool in your vagina. These can be signs of a rectovaginal fistula, or a tear that links the rectum and vagina. This typically requires a surgery.

Rumbling In Your Gut

Rumbling or gurgling in your gut is one more weird noise made by your body. This sound comes from your belly. This is actually the sound of air and fluid as they are moved by muscles via the digestive tract. In case you experience this noise on an empty stomach, it could mean that your gut is sweeping out the leftover debris. It can also be a cue that it is mealtime. You must worry when you are experiencing high-pitched noises and must consult your doctor about it.

Wheezing

One more weird noise that your body makes is wheezing. You must dial 911 in case you cannot catch your breath. Allergies, asthma or even congestive heart failure can lead to the bronchi in your lungs to get inflamed and swollen. Though allergies and asthma can be treated typically with medication, heart failure may require hospitalization on an immediate basis.

Whooping

Those who have whooping cough or pertussis, make this strange sound when they try to inhale via an inflamed airway following coughing spasms. Episodes are generally worse during night. The infection is very much contagious and is considered, especially risky in case of children. It is essential that all kids and adults should get the DTaP vaccine.

Snorting or Gasping At Night

One more weird noise that your body makes is snorting or gasping at night. Snorting or gasping at night is generally associated with sleep apnea, or a condition where the airway frequently collapses.

Your Joints Popping

You may also hear your joints popping and cracking at times. Now what does the popping of joint mean? Well! It is nothing a big deal. Your joints are lubricated by fluid; when you squat or stand, the pressure in a healthy joint gets changed and the fluid may form bubbles that pop and make popping noise.

Though it might not be a serious problem, you need to worry when the popping is associated with pain, locking or instability in the joint. This could be a tendon or a ligament rupture, a fracture or maybe a cartilage injury. Moreover, it might be a signal of osteoarthritis if you hear cracking with a grinding sensation. This is because, here the cartilage begins to deteriorate. You can take anti-inflammatory medications and do physical therapy for getting relief.

Conclusion:

Though some of the weird noises made by your body may not be a big issue. There are some noises that may signal an underlying problem that requires a medical attention. So, it is good to consult your doctor in case you doubt any such condition.
