Thiamine (Vitamin B1) Rich Foods Or Plant-Origin:

Brown Rice. Brown rice is a great source of thiamine or Vitamin B1. It is highly nutritious and is also rich in fibre. Consuming brown rice, instead of white rice actually benefits the people suffering from beriberi. It is advisable to eat two servings of brown rice.

Whole Grain Brown Bread. Whole grain brown bread is one food to include in your diet if you have beriberi. Grains containing the outer layer of grains are exclusively rich in thiamine or vitamin B1. So, consuming thiamine-rich brown bread can also contribute to the overall vitamin content in the body and thus can benefit patients of beriberi

Almonds. Almond is one more food to include ij your diet if you have beriberi. The vitamins and minerals found in almonds keep the body strong and healthy. Almonds are rich in thiamine; and so, if these are consumed daily, the deficiency of thiamine or vitamin B1 will be recovered in a short time period.

Sunflower Seeds. There is another food from plant-origin that is loaded with thiamine and should be eaten if you have beriberi. Sunflower seeds have healing and curative properties and also known for their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. These seeds are also loaded with thiamine or vitamin B1 and omega-3 fatty acids that benefit the health of the patients with beriberi.

One should consume 1 tablespoonful of sunflower seeds on a daily basis so as to treat beriberi or thiamine deficiency.

Potatoes. Potatoes are rich in nutrients. They are packed with phytochemicals, minerals like iron, copper, potassium, and vitamins like vitamin C and vitamin B1 (thiamine). Consuming baked potatoes on a regular basis keeps several diseases at bay, including beriberi or thiamine deficiency.

Rice Bran. There is another plant-origin food that you can rely on if you suffer from beriberi. Rice bran is in fact the best-known remedy for beriberi and has been practiced for hundreds of years. Rice is boiled in an excess of water and the water containing the rice extract is drained and collected in a bowl. This water is drinkable and contains significant quantities of Vitamin B1.

Legumes. There is also one more food to include in your diet for beriberi. Legumes are rich with proteins, minerals, calcium, and vitamin B1 or thiamine. All of these help in restoring the health of the muscles and bones that enable the functioning of joints properly. They protect the body against certain types of cancer.

Thiamine Rich Foods Of Animal-Origin:

Milk. Milk and dairy products are rich sources of vitamins, especially vitamin B1 (thiamine) and other mineral nutrients. This, it should be consumed on regular basis.

Other Animal-Origin Food Sources. Lean meat, especially pork, fish, poultry, and yolk of eggs are also good sources of thiamine or vitamin B1 and you should eat them if you have beriberi.
