  2. Green Leafy Vegetables

You must try to include spinach, fenugreek, gongura (roselle leaves) in your list of foods to eat if you want to lose weight. Green leafy vegetables are an excellent source of fibre and calcium, which both help in weight loss when taken in adequate amounts.

  3. Avocado

If you are looking for a fruit rich in healthy fats, avocado is the way to go. Alone it can be bland, so add it to your salad or smoothie to up the nutrient factor of your meal and enjoy the weight loss benefits of this amazing fruit.

  4. Nuts

These are another food rich in healthy fats. Grab a handful when you feel like a snack. They will keep you full and also provide your body the daily dose of fats and fibre which it needs.

  5. Dates

This delicious food has many benefits including a good amount of iron, rich source of fibre and calcium. Eat a few dates as part of your daily snack and you will feel a considerable difference in energy levels and will also help you lose weight.

  6. Seasonal Fruits

People generally tend to stay away from fruits thinking of their sugar content. But fruits also have a good amount of fibre in them so as to allow the sucrose to be released very slowly into the blood. Enjoy a seasonal fruit per day away from your meal time (make sure you leave a gap of 2 hours before and after your meals before you eat a fruit) and feel guilty no more about it.

  7. Beans and Legumes

The most easily available form of protein are beans and legumes. Have a cup of legume soup or bean soup or curry at meal time and reap the benefits of protein and fibre from it. Helps in keeping you fuller and satiated there by helping you in your weight loss efforts.

  8. Fish and Lean Meats

Another excellent source of healthy fats are fish and lean meats. Include a portion into your meals and enjoy a well balanced diet. It is common knowledge now that a diet rich in protein and less in carbohydrates is a winning formula for weight loss.

  9. Green Tea

Technically not a food, agreed, but green tea is known to boost metabolism which in turn helps in weight loss. The best way to ingest a good amount of green tea would be to make a pitcher of it, and drink as and when you wish throughout the day. Add a stick of cinnamon to the pitcher or some honey to suit your taste. Do remember it is not a substitute for water, and monitor your water intake as well.

  10. Water

Last but the most important thing in your diet would be to stay hydrated. Make sure you get your 8-10 glasses of water in per day. This not only keeps your digestive system running smoothly, but your skin beautiful and weight loss is but a side effect of a well hydrated system. Make sure to only sip your water in the middle of your workout and have a half glass after cooling down completely. All the lactic acid build-up (which happens post exercise) will be flushed out when you have enough water going down.
