How Can One Get Rid of Heartburn?

One can get rid of heartburn easily with the help of the following home remedies:

Baking Soda

Baking Soda can help to get rid of heartburn. Baking soda which is available by the name of Sodium bicarbonate at the chemist shop is very helpful in getting instant relief from heartburn. It is basic in nature i.e. has a pH level of more than 7. Thus, it can combine with the acid to neutralize them in your stomach. You just need to mix ½ or full teaspoon of baking soda in about 250 ml of water and drink.

Chewing Gum

Another way to get rid of heartburn is by chewing gum. A few studies suggest that chewing sugar free gum for about half an hour after meal can help you get rid of heartburn. When you chew gum, the salivary glands in your mouth become active and produce saliva. This saliva helps in neutralizing the acid that is causing the burning sensation.

Ginger Tea

Ginger tea is yet another effective way to get rid of heartburn. Ginger tea is particularly useful in the case of heartburns accompanied with nausea. You just need to pick a small piece of ginger and chop it down in small pieces. Put it into half a cup of water and boil it for about 10-15 minutes. You need take ginger tea about 20-25 minutes before taking meal. It will not only relieve you from heartburn but also helps with nausea.

Banana

Eating bananas can help to get rid of heartburn. The best way to get relief from acid reflux is to find a good antacid that can neutralize acid. Banana is an excellent antacid that works naturally and does not cause any side-effects even if you use it for a long term. The pH level of banana is 14 which clearly indicate that it is a strong base. However, you need to be careful while choosing the banana. The bananas those are not well ripe must be avoided as they can cause more harm than providing any relief. Bananas are rich in potassium that provides them the basic nature. It also triggers the production of mucus that forms an inner lining in the stomach to safeguard against acid.

Apples:

Apples help in getting rid of heartburn problem. Apple is another fruit that has wonderful alkaline properties to provide relief from acid reflux. Indigestion is another main reason that causes acid reflux. Apples improve the digestion of food, further helping in reducing the chances of acid reflux. Here again you need to choose the ripe apples. The best time to eat apples is about half an hour after the meals. You can also combine apple with some honey to make it more effective. You can prepare a juice of apple with half teaspoon of honey.

Fennel Seeds

Fennel and its seeds are also efficient in getting rid of heartburn. Fennel is an effective herb for various types of stomach problems such as bloating, constipation, indigestion etc. It has fairly neutral in nature with a pH of 6.9 which makes it a good remedy for managing the symptoms of acid reflux. The seeds of fennel are as effective as fennel in treating acid reflux. You can eat fennel in the form of salad by chopping it down in fine slices. You can also pick a few fennel seeds and chew them after meals.

Diet

You can find numerous food items that you can eat to treat symptoms of heartburn. However, if you just eat proper food, you can keep the symptoms of heartburn away. You need to identify the diet that suits your stomach and does not cause indigestion. Try to break down your meals into small and frequent meals that are very helpful in preventing indigestion. Eating food at your regular time is important to treat symptoms of heartburn. Including healthy elements like salad and fruits also help in proper digestion of food.
