Mobic is a NSAID or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug. Mobic effectively reduces the hormones which cause pain and inflammation in the body.

Mobic is effective in treating inflammation or pain in the body typically caused by osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis in adults. Mobic is also used in the effective treatment of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis in infants above 2 years of age.

You need to get urgent medical aid if you have slurred speech, chest pain, shortness of breath, weakness or problems with balance or vision after taking Mobic.

Intestinal or stomach bleeding which is fatal can also be caused by Mobic. These problems can occur suddenly when using Mobic particularly in elderly adults.

You need to contact your doctor immediately in case you have any signs of stomach bleeding like bloody, black or tarry stools or coughing up vomit or blood that is similar to coffee grounds.

Stop consuming alcohol while using mobic as it may raise your risk of blood leak in the stomach.

Consult your pharmacist or doctor in prior to using any allergy, cold or pain medicine. Medicines like Mobic are found in numerous combination medicines. You need to verify the label to find that the medicine consists of an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) like naproxen, ibuprofen, aspirin or ketoprofen.

If you are using Mobic for a longer term or if you are taking high doses of if you have heart disease, Mobic is more likely to increase your stroke or fatal heart attack risk. Even people who are without any heart disease or other factors of risk can have a heart attack or stroke when consuming the medicine.

  • Stop taking this medicine after or before heart bypass surgery (CABG- coronary artery bypass graft).
  • Mobic can also cause intestinal or stomach bleeding that is fatal. These conditions may occur suddenly when taking Mobic particularly in elderly adults.
  • Stop intake of Mobic if you have had an attack of asthma or if you are allergy to meloxicam of if you have severe allergic reaction after intake of an NSAID or aspirin.
  • In order to ensure Mobic is safe to use, inform your doctor if you have the following:
  • A record or heart attack, blood clot or stroke;
  • A record of stomach ulcers or bleeding;
  • Asthma;
  • High blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease or if you are a smoker;
  • Kidney disease or if you are on dialysis;
  • Liver disease; or
  • Retention of fluid.

Mobic may harm the unborn child if you consume during the last quarter of pregnancy. Inform your doctor in prior if you are planning to become pregnant or if you are carrying.

There can be an ovulation (the release of an egg from an ovary) postponement while taking Mobic. Stop taking Mobic in case you are trying to get pregnant or otherwise undergoing fertility treatment.

Mobic can harm a baby by passing through breast milk. Breast-feeding should be prohibited when taking this medicine.

Mobic is not authorized for usage by anyone less than 2 years of age.

What is the Recommended Dosage of Mobic?

Usual Adult Dosage of Mobic for Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis:

Initial Mobic dosage: 7.5 mg orally one time everyday

Maintenance Mobic dosage: 7.5 mg orally one time everyday

Maximum dosage: 15 mg orally everyday

Usual Pediatric Dosage for Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis:

Above or equal to 2 years: 0.125 mg/kg orally one time in a day

Maximum Mobic dosage: 7.5 mg orally everyday

No additional benefit was demonstrated when the Mobic dosage was increased to more than 0.125 mg/kg one time in a day in clinical trials.

What are the Side Effects of Mobic?

You need to get urgent medical help in case you have signs or symptoms of an allergic reaction to Mobic like sneezing, stuffy or runny nose; trouble breathing or wheezing; hives; inflammation of your lips, tongue, face or throat.

You need to get urgent medical help in case you have signs or symptoms of stroke or heart attack like chest pain spreading to your shoulder or jaw, weakness or numbness on one side of the body suddenly, feeling short of breath or slurred speech.

Stop consuming Mobic and contact your doctor immediately if you have the following severe side effects of Mobic:

  • Speedy weight gain or inflammation
  • Shortness of breath even with mild exertion
  • The initial sign of any rash on the skin even though it is very mild;
  • Stomach bleeding symptoms like tarry or bloody stools, coughing up vomit or blood that is similar to coffee grounds;
  • Problems in liver- nausea, tiredness, pain in the upper stomach, appetite loss, itchy skin, dark urination, (yellowing of the skin or eyes), clay or brown colored stools, flu-like symptoms;
  • Problems in kidney- no or little urinating, difficult or painful urination, inflammation in your ankles or feet, short of breath or tiredness;
  • Anemia or low red blood cells- bloodless or pale skin, lightheadedness or shortness of breath, trouble in concentrating, speedy heart rate.
  • Severe skin reaction- sore throat, fever, inflammation in your tongue or face, pain in the skin followed by purple or red skin rash which spreads particularly in the upper body or face and causes peeling and blistering, burning in your eyes.

Common side effects of Mobic may include:

  • Upset stomach, vomiting, nausea, heartburn;
  • Constipation, diarrhea, gas;
  • Dizziness is a side effect of Mobic
  • Flu symptoms, cold symptoms.
