Claritin, Zyrtec and Allegra are all good antihistamine drugs. For quite some time these drugs are available over the counter and without any prescription. Many believe that all antihistamines are the same but they are not. The choice of an antihistamine to cure allergic conditions depends on the age of a person, the allergic condition that is being treated and certain other factors.

The three histamines work throughout the day if taken once daily. It is recommended to take the medicines once daily. Allegra, Claritin lose their power after 20 hours. Zyrtec, on the contrary works for 24 hours.

According to reports, the different antihistamines can be used for adults as well as children. In this respect, it is pertinent to mention the dosages of antihistamines. Medicines like Claritin are Zyrtec give best results if they are used once, daily. Allegra can be used two times, daily; it is used once per day for adults and kids who are aged above 12 years.

The three drugs like Zyrtec, Claritin and Allegra are superb antihistamine drugs. However, there are differences between the three drugs. The effectiveness of the drugs depend on a number of factors like the patient's age, whether the patient is suffering from other illness and so on.
