Slow walking is the best way to start to increase overall levels of fitness. Moderate stretching exercises and yoga can build up endurance and strength. Brisk walking can be executed after a few days of slow walking, stretching, and yoga. Swimming is an alternative method to increase the intensity of your exercise. Brisk walk for 40 minutes a day and swim for half an hour a day may boost the immunity, keeps the blood pressure normal, reduce lipids, and improves the blood circulation in the heart.

Chest pain is a major indication of acute pericarditis and affected patients may also present with fatigue and rarely dyspnea in case of extensive pericardial effusion.

Diagnostic work-up with ECG, echocardiography and coronary angiography is often mandatory to exclude other major heart diseases. Cardiac MRI is on the way to become a helpful diagnostic tool in the future, mainly because it may increase the sensitivity of heart muscle biopsies.
