When human body tends to produce excess amount of acid in the stomach then some of it enters the esophagus. This leads to the health condition commonly known as heartburn, acid reflux or acidity. Acid reflux is not considered a problem unless it happens very often and on a severe level. Usually people do not see acid reflux as a major problem but the fact it is that acid reflux can actually affect the health of an individual drastically. Majority of people who are suffering from this problem often drink cold milk to get relief from the problem. Milk can reduce the acid reflux but the result is very temporary and not permanent.

Milk is high in protein content; this protein is very helpful in treating the acid affected digestive tract. Other forms of protein found in poultry items, beans, fish and other animal products also helps in making the esophagus muscles strong that helps in preventing the acid to move from stomach to esophagus. Yes, milk can help with acid reflux but it is essential to take fat free milk because milk with high fat content triggers the acid reflux problem by increases the acid production inside the stomach.

  1. Goat’s Milk

    It is very beneficial for people who frequently suffer from acid reflux; this is because goat’s milk has less fat and is easy to digest. One should look for organic goat milk in their vicinity and should drink minimum eight ounces of cold milk every day.

  2. Skim Milk

    As Goat’s milk is expensive and difficult to find, so people who find it difficult to get fresh goat’s milk everyday can opt for skim or fat free milk for acid reflux problem. Some people have a misconception that fat free milk is low is nutrition but this is not true. Fat free milk is equally high in nutrition like full fat milk. Drinking a cup of cold fat free milk helps in providing relief from burning sensation in throat and chest region.

  3. Milk and Cinnamon

    Just like milk, cinnamon is also very good in treating acid reflux. Simply mix a tea spoon full of cinnamon in half glass of cold fat free milk and store in fridge. Drink this cinnamon milk when required to get instant relief from acid reflux, as it does wonders.

  4. Milk and Green Cardamom

    This drink is also very beneficial in acid reflux. For making this drink, take a blender and grind two green cardamoms. Simultaneously, warm half glass of fat free milk in low flame, add cardamom powder and mix well in low flame. Bring the mixture to boil and then let it simmer it for 5 minutes. Turn off the flame and let the mixture cool for ten minutes in room temperature. Then store this mixture in fridge and drink 3-4 tablespoon of this milk every three hours to get relief from acid reflux.

  5. Milk and Honey Sorbet

    Honey is full of nutrition and is a good antibacterial source, which helps in providing relief to burning digestive tract and throat. Boil two cups of skimmed milk in a sauce pan and add one teaspoon of green cardamom powder, one cup full of oatmeal and around ¼ cup of raisins. After the oatmeal is cooked remove the pan from the heat and add a table spoon of honey in to it. Let it cool room temperature and freeze it. Eat this once every day to get relief from acid reflux. Also, this is a very healthy option for breakfast for maintaining good health.
