On an average, in a day every individual releases gas from their body for minimum 12 to 21 times. Releasing gas from body is a very common and normal body process. However, it becomes serious when gas is built up in the intestine region and individual find it difficult to expel it from the body. In this condition individual often experience bloating, frequent & awful gas and abdominal pain. Gas is produced in body because of chewing gums, eating some specific food items, swallowing food items directly with water without proper chewing, smoking and off course overeating. It is recommended that one should immediately consult a doctor if they experience any of these symptoms.

Usually what you eat is the main source for causing gas in the body. Digestion of food happens in the small intestine and the undigested fermented food items having bacteria and fungus move to colon. This aids in producing gases like hydrogen and methane, which is then expelled from the body as fart. For majority of people making significant changes or shift in diet helps in getting relief from the painful symptoms. One should make a list of food items which they feel cause gas in their body, some of the common food items that contributes in building gas in the body are:

  • Spicy foods
  • Aerated Drinks
  • High Fat content food
  • Food with high fiber content
  • Artificial food like sugar free items or low fat food

  1. You can Take Chamomile Tea for Gas

    This tea helps in reducing the indigestion of food and also helps in getting rid from gas and other stomach problems like bloating. Experts suggest drinking Chamomile tea after every meal and right before going to bed, as this can drastically reduce the production of gas in the body.

  2. Peppermint Is also Good for Gas

    Research has revealed that intake of peppermint in any form helps in reducing various symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome such as gas or stomach bloating. It is always suggested that one should consult with their doctor before taking any supplements; this is so because these supplements can adversely affect absorption of iron and can also interfere with certain medications. Some patient also experience acidity or heartburn. Taking a cup of peppermint tea after every meal is good for curing gastric problem.

  3. Apple Cider Vinegar Can also Be Taken for Gas

    Taking dilute form of apple cider vinegar helps before every meal helps in reducing the gastric problem to considerable extent. This is one of the most effective and easy remedy for the problem of gas.

  4. One Can Take Cloves for Gas

    Clove is a very common ingredient which is frequently used in cooking. Intake of clove oil helps in getting rid from stomach bloating by facilitating the production of enzyme that aids in digestion. For instant relief one can take 6-8 drops of clove oil mixed in a glass full of water. This provides quick and instant relief from gas and gas pain.

  5. Working Out is Also Good for Gas

    Have active routine i.e. doing exercise regularly helps in releasing the trapped gas in the body. This way the problem like gas pain is reduced drastically. Going for a walk after every meal or jumping ropes helps in expelling unwanted gas from the body. This is why exercise should be made a part of daily routine.

Other Preventive Measures for Gas

Some of the common preventive measures for gas include:

  • Quitting smoking
  • Quitting drinking alcohol
  • Stop chewing gum
  • Do not sit for long periods of time
  • Avoiding foods with high fat and fiber content
  • Stopping intake of aerated drinks.
