Lisinopril is a medicine which is commonly known as Zestril in medical term, this medication is prescribed to control high blood pressure in people. In addition, lisinopril is also prescribed in combination with other for treating heart disorder. This medicine falls in the angiotensin class of medicine, which acts as enzyme inhibitors. This helps in making the flow of blood smooth by efficiently widening the blood vessels and enabling the heart to function effectively.

Lowering the blood pressure helps in minimizing or completely eliminating the risk of heart attack or stroke. It was in the year 1987; lisinopril got its first approval from the FDA i.e. The Food and Drug Administration. The drug was first developed by a brand name Prinivil. Further, in the year 2002 the Food and Drug Administration approved the generic lisinopril.

They should check their weight in regular intervals to know the effect of medication of their body weight. Prescribed pills should not have any adverse effect on the unborn child. Medication given to diabetic patient helps in controlling the abnormal blood sugar level, but at the same time patients should also keep a check on the signs of infection like fever, sore throat etc. These problems arises because of abnormal increase or decrease in the level of white blood cells.

It is also highly recommend that before opting for lisinopril patients should clearly inform their doctor about the any surgery major or minor if they are planning in anytime future. Also, patient suffering from angioedema should inform the same to their doctor. In addition, there are some serious side effects of this medication are: breathlessness, chest pain, swelling on different parts of the body, infection, weakness and Hoarseness.

Two common side effects that are mentioned on the product are sudden weight gain and unusual swelling on different parts of the body. If any of these side effects are experienced by the patient then it should be immediately shared with the doctor. Also, it is suggested that patient who are under this medication should strictly avoid intake of alcohol. This is so because alcohol intake can drastically decrease the blood pressure and can raise the possibility of severe side effects. Taking salt substitute and potassium supplements without medical expert’s advice is not at all recommended.

Make sure to check the blood pressure as well as the weight regularly to know the fluctuations and also the effect of medication.

Dosage Of Lisinopril

Based on the severity of the patient’s condition doctors prescribe the dosage. Patients should never make the mistake of stopping the medication or making alteration in the dosage on their own. The dosage alteration should only be done after doctor’s approval. Suddenly stopping the medication can actually have adverse effect on the health of the patient, making the condition even worst.
