The union valley points are one of the effective pressure points for headaches. They are located on the web between the thumb and index finger. For treating headaches using the union valley pressure point, you should follow the steps mentioned below.

Begin by pinching the union valley points located on the web between your index finger and thumb. Use the thumb and index finger of your opposite hand firmly for doing this. Do it for 10 seconds. Then, make small circles using your thumb on this area in any one direction and then the other. Do this for 10 seconds each. Repeat the same process on the union valley point of your other hand.

It is believed that this type of pressure point treatment can relieve tension in the head and neck. Usually, any tension in your head or neck is associated with headaches.

Third Eye Point:

Among other effective pressure points for headache is the Third eye point which can be found between your eyebrows, where the forehead and the bridge of your nose meets.

For this, use your index finger of one hand and apply firm pressure to the third eye point area for 60 seconds. It is believed that this firm pressure when applied to your third eye pressure point can relieve eyestrain and also sinus pressure that is generally known to cause headaches.

Gates Of Consciousness:

The Gates of consciousness pressure points are at the base of our skull in the parallel hollow areas between our two vertical muscles of the neck. For using these pressure points you should first place your middle and index fingers of either hand over these pressure points and firmly press upward on both sides simultaneously for 10 seconds and then release. Repeat the same. You can get relief from headaches by applying a firm touch to these effective pressure points.

Drilling Bamboo:

One of the most effective pressure points for headaches is Drilling bamboo points. These points are present at the indentation on either side of the spot where your ridge of both eyebrows and the bridge of your nose meets.

Use your index fingers for applying pressure to both points at once firmly. Hold this for 10 seconds, release, and repeat. Touching these pressure points can help you in relieving headaches that are generally caused by sinus pain and eyestrain.

Shoulder Well:

The Shoulder well is a pressure point that is located at the edge of your shoulder, just halfway between your shoulder point and the back of the neck. For using this pressure point for headaches, use the thumb of any of the one hand and apply firm and circular pressure to this pressure point for 60 seconds and then switch and repeat on the other side.

Applying a firm touch to this pressure point can help in relieving stiffness in the neck and shoulders, thus relieving pain in the neck and preventing headaches that can be caused by such kind of sensation.

Few Cautions:

Though acupressure pressure points can be effective in reducing headaches, we must mention that this can be useful alongside medical care.

Apart from this, you should always maintain few cautions while doing this. Do not consider doing this if you have a heart condition, do not do it before or within 20 minutes after doing an intense workout, bathing, or a large meal.
