It causes cramps and spasms in the abdominal region. Black coffee causes the formation of acidity which leads to the reflux of acid levels and causes acidity again.

Stress

The beverage causes a lot of stress as it leads to the release of cortisol, epinephrine, and norepinephrine. Epinephrine is also known as the stress hormone. It triggers stress as well as anxiety. As a result of excessive consumption of black coffee, it becomes very difficult to stay calm.

Heartburn

It also results in the relaxation of the sphincter muscles in the lower esophagus. Food content remains in the stomach as long as these muscles stay firm. However, when it becomes relaxed, it does not do its job well. This results in heartburns which are caused by the erosion of the fragile lining by the action of the hydrochloric acid.

A person taking high levels of caffeine needs to have a talk with the doctor about the medications and the amount of coffee consumed in a day.
