    It is found from some research studies that green coffee is beneficial for reducing obesity. There are some early research which suggests that obese adults consuming a specific green coffee extract 5 times in a day regularly for 4 weeks to 12 weeks, either alone or combined with the regular coffee product, lose an average of 2.5 kg to 3.7 kg more weight than those individuals taking a placebo or regular coffee.

  2. Green Coffee is Beneficial in Treating High Blood Pressure

    There are also evidences which show green coffee benefits in treating high blood pressure. Early research suggests that consuming green coffee extracts containing 50 mg to 140 mg of chlorogenic acids regularly for about 4 to 12 weeks can reduce blood pressure in the Japanese adults who have mild and untreated high blood pressure. It was noted that the top number or the systolic blood pressure reduced by 5 mmHg to 10 mmHg while the bottom number or the diastolic blood pressure reduced by 3 mmHg to 7 mmHg in the patients taking green coffee.

    Green coffee bean extract is known to be highly beneficial in treating diabetes by getting the blood sugar level normal in the body. Chlorogenic acids present in green coffee are known to inhibit the release of G6P in a profound manner, which in turn stabilizes the levels of blood sugar in the body.     One of the side effects of green coffee is that it can make your anxiety worse. So it is advisable that in case you have anxiety disorder then it is best to avoid taking green coffee or limit the amount.

  3. Diabetes

    Yet another major side effect of green coffee is diabetes. The caffeine present in green coffee has been reported to cause increase or decrease of the blood sugar. It is essential for you to use green coffee with caution in case you have diabetes and also monitor your blood sugar carefully

  4. Bleeding Disorders

If an individual has osteoporosis, he or she must limit consumption of caffeine to less than 300 mg per day.

  9. IBS or Irritable Bowel Syndrome

    Green coffee comprises of caffeine and this when taken in large amount can worsen diarrhea and cause IBS or Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

    It is found that specific components of green coffee can increase the cholesterol levels. However it is not very much clear if green coffee can actually cause increase cholesterol levels.

    Caffeine found in Green coffee can cause side effects of insomnia, restlessness, nervousness, upset stomach, nausea and vomiting along with conditions like increased heart rate, breathing rate etc. Taking large amount of green coffee may cause agitation, headache, ringing ears, etc.

It must be noted that as there are no reliable information about the safety of taking green coffee, if you are pregnant or are breast feeding; then do stay on the safe side and keep away from green coffee or consult your doctor before taking green coffee.

Green Coffee Dosage

The appropriate dose of green coffee depends of various factors like the user’s age, his or her health condition and various other conditions. At this time there is not enough scientific information to determine the appropriate dosage of green coffee; however it is noted that taking doses up to 480 g regularly can be safe for about 12 weeks. It must also be noted that a specific green coffee extract has been used safely in doses up to 200 mg for 5 times in a day up to 12 weeks.
