About Mucous Cyst:

A Mucous Cyst which is also known by the name of mucocele or an oral cystis is a lump that normally develops on the floor of the mouth, lips or tongue. This is usually caused due to an injury to the mouth or facial area to include a direct blow or being hit by a blunt object on the face.

It may also result due to an injury to the soft tissues inside the mouth. A minor or a small Mucous Cyst is relatively painless although cysts that are quite large can cause some amount of pain to the affected individual. The cysts which contain any material within them tend to burst after a few days and release the fluid but the cysts which are deep within tend to last longer.

Cheek biting and not taking care of oral health tends to cause Mucous Cyst. If an individual has Mucous Cyst then it will be difficult for them to eat food properly as they may find it difficult to chew food. They may also find it difficult to speak as it may cause pain.

Honey: Honey has antiinflammatory properties which makes it an excellent Home Remedy for Mucous Cyst. It helps in reliving pain and calms down the inflammation caused by the Mucous Cyst. The antibacterial properties of Honey also prevent spread of any infection and speeds up the healing process of Mucous Cyst.

You need to mix some honey with half a teaspoon of turmeric powder and make a paste of it. Apply the paste on the affected area for about 20 minutes and then gargle with warm water. Repeat the process about three times a day. You can also apply honey to the affected region at night before going to bed for relief of symptoms of Mucous Cyst.

Salt: This is yet another effective Home Remedy for Mucous Cyst. Salt has properties which help a great deal in treating Mucous Cyst. It facilitates removal of mucous from the cyst and speeds up the healing process. It also helps in reducing inflammation from the area. You need to mix half a spoon of salt in warm water and gargle with this solution. Repeat this process at least four times a day for increased effectiveness.

Ice: Applying ice on the affected area can also help in treating Mucous Cyst as it helps in reduction of pain and irritation caused by the Mucous Cyst. Take some ice cubes in a towel and place it on the affected area for about a minute to get instant relief from the pain and irritation. You need to repeat the process at least four times a day for best relief.

Glycerin: This is yet another effective Home Remedy for Mucous Cyst. Glycerin has plenty of antiseptic and other healing properties which speed up the healing rate of Mucous Cyst and prevents any infection from developing. Apply some vegetable glycerin on the affected area for a few minutes and then clean the area with warm water. Do this about four times a day for best effectiveness. You can also use a glycerin mouthwash for the same purpose.

Moist Tea Bag: This is also quite an effective Home Remedy for Mucous Cyst. Tea has tannic acid which helps in reducing pain and inflammation caused due to Mucous Cyst. It also speeds up the healing process of Mucous Cyst. Take a used tea bag and place it in a refrigerator to cool it down. Once it is chilled, place it on the affected area for about 10 minutes. Do this twice a day till you see improvement in the symptoms of Mucous Cyst.

Aloe Vera: The antiinflammatory properties of Aloe Vera make it an effective home remedy in treating Mucous Cyst. It also has properties which are quite effective in pain relief and speeds up the process of recovery. You need to take some Aloe Vera Gel and apply it directly on the affected area for about 20 minutes. Then, rinse the mouth with warm water. You need to repeat the process daily for a few weeks till you see significant improvement in the symptoms of Mucous Cyst.
