Creatinine is usually a byproduct of the skeletal muscles which break down to provide energy to the cells. Creatinine usually has no part to take in overall functioning of the body and is usually controlled by the kidneys which carry out the filtering and elimination of this product from the body. Sometimes, when the kidneys is not functioning the way it should be and its filtering capabilities become less then there is a gradual buildup of creatinine in the body.

An increased creatinine level in the body is also a symptom of a kidney dysfunction. Increased creatinine can lead to various other health problems. Thus it is extremely important to keep the creatinine levels low. Under normal circumstances the normal creatinine levels in males is maximum of 1.1 mg/dl for males and 1.2 mg/dl for females. An increase in this number suggests a kidney problem which needs to be identified and treated accordingly.

There are however certain natural ways to bring the creatinine levels down which include certain herbs, lifestyle changes, and modifying the diet. This article gives a brief overview on natural ways to lower the creatinine levels in the body.

Ways to Lower the Creatinine Levels in the Body

There are basically three ways to naturally bring down the creatinine levels in the body which are dietary modifications, lifestyle changes, and use of certain herbs.

Dietary Modifications to Lower the Creatinine Levels in the Body

To begin with try and eat a well balanced diet which has plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, barley, oats and the like. You can also add carrots, sprouts, cucumber, and cauliflower to the diet as a means of adequate protein intake to lower Creatinine Levels.

It should be noted that people with renal function should not take protein supplements or diet which are extremely rich in proteins such as dairy products and fatty meats as it affects the functioning of the kidneys more. Beverages like alcohol are something that you should absolutely abstain from if you want to lower the creatinine levels in the body.

The second thing that you can do is limit the sodium intake in your daily diet. This can be done with restricting the amount of salt that you put in the food that you eat daily to lower Creatinine Levels in the body. Excess sodium will lead to fluid retention and hypertension which are both detrimental for kidney function.

Lifestyle Changes to Lower Creatinine Levels in the Body

Lifestyle Changes to Lower Creatinine Levels in the Body

Avoid Strenuous Activities

Certain lifestyle changes are absolutely necessary for people with renal dysfunction in order to lower creatinine levels. The individual needs to avoid certain strenuous activities as it facilitates faster conversion of creatine to creatinine. Thus it is recommended to go slow on exercises in the gym and putting too much strain on the body in order to lower Creatinine Levels.

Drink Plenty of Water

Dehydration causes an increase in the level of creatinine in the body. Thus it is extremely essential to keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of water in order to lower creatinine levels. It also increases the frequency or urination naturally thus allowing more and more creatinine to be removed from the body in a natural way thus lowering the creatinine levels.

Have Good Sleep

When we sleep, the metabolism rate of our body also slows down and thus there is less production of creatinine which leads to more creatinine being filtered out of the blood and naturally lowers the creatinine levels in the body.
