6 Best Home Remedies for Moles or Melanocytic Nevi

An Overview of Moles or Melanocytic Nevi!

Moles which are medically known as “melanocytic nevi” are benign harmless black or brownish spots or patches in the skin which are normally formed due to collection of melanocytes which are cells which produce a pigment called melanin giving an individual his or her color.

Moles or Melanocytic Nevi as such are totally harmless and are of no concern except when they are present at a spot where they don’t look pleasing to the eye for the individual. Most of the moles tend to appear by the age of 30. While most of the moles are flat there are a few types of moles, which may be slightly raised. They may be present with or without hairs. Factors such as genetics, hormonal balance, and amount of sun exposure play a crucial role in deciding how many moles and at what part of the body may be present.

In some cases, these Moles or Melanocytic Nevi fade away and go on their own as the individual ages, but in some cases these moles may stay forever. In some cases the moles may have peculiar characteristics like irregular borders or there may be a change in color.

This may be a sign of a malignant lesion and thus a consultation with a dermatologist is recommended. Other than this, Moles or Melanocytic Nevi are something which does not require that much of an attention unless they are unsightly. There are treatment options available for Moles or Melanocytic Nevi, but also there are certain Home Remedies for Moles.

It is recommended that if any of the moles have characteristics that may point towards malignancy, then these Home Remedies should not be tried and a consultation with a dermatologist becomes necessary to rule in or rule out a diagnosis and formulate a treatment plan for Moles or Melanocytic Nevi.
