About Motion Sickness!

Motion Sickness is a common problem which many of us face especially those who have to travel a lot for work both within and outside the country or when going on vacation. Motion Sickness can strike irrespective of the mode of transport whether it is a car, plane, bus, or a train. If the travel time is quite long individuals with motion sickness tend to get the symptoms classic for it.

Anatomically speaking, the eyes, ears, and muscles send sensory information to the brain with which the brain determined the direction in which the body is moving. What happens sometimes is that these body parts send conflicting information to the brain which it is not able to interpret properly which results in certain symptoms. This is what is called as Motion Sickness.

The primary symptoms experienced with Motion Sickness are nausea, vomiting, skin getting pale, excessive sweating, dizziness, headaches, and feeling of fatigue. These symptoms spontaneously disappear when the motion stops. Individuals who have motion sickness try various kinds of over-the-counter medicines to help with the symptoms to varying degrees of effectiveness.

Natural Remedies to Get Rid of Motion Sickness

Some of The Natural Remedies To Get Rid of Motion Sickness Are:

Ginger:

This is quite an effective way to get rid of Motion Sickness naturally. Ginger is a natural antiemetic and hence helps with the nausea and vomiting that occurs with Motion Sickness. All you need to do is make a cup of tea for yourself, but add some ginger to it and drink the tea about half an hour before leaving for a journey. You can also add some honey to the tea for added benefit. Additionally, you can mix a teaspoon of ginger and lemon juice and drink it before traveling. This can be repeated in case of a flare of symptoms of it.

It should be noted that pregnant females and individuals with a heart condition need to consult with their physician before adopting this form of remedy for Motion Sickness.

Apple Cider Vinegar:

Apple Cider Vinegar balances the pH levels in the body, which helps in managing Motion Sickness better in a natural way. All you need to do is take two tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar and mix some honey to it and add these two to a cup of lukewarm water. Stir the mixture well and sip the solution about 30 minutes prior to traveling.

This solution will help prevent nausea and also will settle the stomach and allow you to get rid of Motion Sickness naturally. In case if you are in the middle of a travel and have symptoms of Motion Sickness you can take a teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar and mix it in a cup of water and drink it. It will provide immediate relief from the symptoms of it.

Peppermint:

The menthol present in peppermint prevents nausea and vomiting and it calms the stomach naturally. All you need to do is drink a cup of peppermint tea before you start traveling. Alternatively you can prepare peppermint tea yourself by adding some peppermint leaves to a cup of boiling water and add a teaspoon of honey and drink the tea half-an-hour before travel to get rid of Motion Sickness. While traveling always carry a peppermint candy with you which you can use in case if you get symptoms of Motion Sickness.

Lemon:

Lemon Juice is perhaps the best natural remedy to prevent and stop vomiting which is one of the main symptoms of Motion Sickness. Lemon contains citric acid which helps in settling down the stomach and prevents nausea and vomiting.

All you need to do is mix some lemon juice in a glass of water. You can add some sugar or honey for taste and drink the juice for best relief from the symptoms of Motion Sickness. Alternatively, you can travel with slices of lemons which you can continuously suck to prevent any symptoms from occurring of Motion Sickness.

Green Apple:

Green Apples contain pectin which is extremely good in calming down the stomach and thus prevent symptoms of Motion Sickness from occurring. All you need to do is extract the juice of green apples, mix it with some lemon juice, and add some black salt to it. Mix all these things thoroughly and drink the solution before starting the travel and prevent any symptoms of Motion Sickness.

Crackers:

These are yet another excellent snack which prevents symptoms of Motion Sickness. These are easily digested by the stomach and also have properties, which prevent symptoms of it. You can take plenty of salty crackers with you while traveling and whenever you feel that you are having symptoms you can nibble some crackers and prevent the symptoms of Motion Sickness.
