Watery eyes can be really very much irritating. There are several causes for watery eyes and also there are various home and herbal remedies to get rid of such condition.

Watery eyes are also known as epiphora; which happens when the tears are produced without any obvious cause and when they do not drain away in a proper manner.     • Make sure that your do not have any foreign object in your eyes which may be causing watery eyes. In case there is a physical irritant that may be causing the watering of eyes and irritation in the eye, be sure you are not trying to remove the irritant with your fingers. Do not rub your eyes which may cause damage to your eye.
    • Gently wash your eyes immediately. Make sure that while washing your eyes, your hands are properly cleaned. You just need to hold your eye open under a gentle stream of lukewarm running water. You can also use an eyewash station or an eyecup to wash your eyes.
    • In case you have dry eyes, use eye drops or artificial tears which may be beneficial in stopping watery eyes. Eye drops will aid in moistening and lubricating your eyes, which in turn would lead to a reduced tear production and prevent watery eyes. Apply 3 drops of eye drop, as prescribed by your doctor for your eyes.
    • Warm compresses aid in removing crust from the eyes and also aids in loosening up any toxin that might be blocking your tear ducts and causing watery eyes. For doing this, just run a washcloth under warm or hot water, squeeze out any excess of water and then lay the washcloth across your eyes. Lie down and keep the cloth there for about 5 to 10 minutes for best of relaxation.
    • You can take an antihistamine allergy pill once in a day, in case it is necessary to stop your body’s overreaction to any pollen, pet dander, or any other allergen you might be allergic too and which might be cause eye irritation and watery eyes.

    There are a lot of herbal tea varieties which can be used to get rid of watery eyes. Some of the commonly used herbal teas for eradicating watery eyes include the teas like green tea, eyebright tea and turmeric tea.

    Rose Water:

    Rose water is one of an excellent herbal remedy which has been used for eyes since a long period of time. It is known that few drops of rose water can clean dirty eyes and solve any related problem. So, this can also be a nice herbal remedy for watery eyes.


    Calendula or the Marigold is known to be an excellent natural herb which acts as an antiseptic. One can use this herb as eyewash so as to treat red and watery eyes.

    Herbal Eyewash:

    Natural herbal eyewash is most commonly used for treating watery and red eyes. Marigold tea, chamomile tea or tea of coriander seeds are ideal conventional eyewashes used to get rid of watery eyes.
