What is Milia?

These bumps tend to also occur in the forehead, nose, and cheek. These bumps are normally filled with keratin and are totally harmless but do not look good cosmetically. Usually seen in newborn babies, they can also occur in adults as well. If an adult gets Milia, then it may take a long time, to the tune of months to years to completely get rid of Milia.

Milia is caused when the skin is not able to remove dead skin cells resulting in clogging of the pores of the skin. There can be numerous factors that may cause Milia like blister injury, use of steroid creams, and damage caused due to overexposure to sun.

The cysts formed by Milia are completely harmless but they tend to cause cosmetic concerns and hence it is important to get rid of them as soon as possible. In this article, we will give a brief overview of some of the home remedies to get rid of Milia.
