Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma is a type of cancer that affects the lymphocytes or white blood cells. These lymphocytes are found in the lymph nodes, spleen, thymus glands in the neck, bone marrow & other parts of the body. The risk factors of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma include a weak immune system, exposure to certain chemicals, chronic helicobacter pylori infection & previous cancer treatment (exposure to radiation & chemotherapy). Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma is also known to affect males more than females & is also more common in older adults beyond the age group of 55 years.

Home Remedies For Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma

Home remedies cannot treat non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma permanently but can help control the symptoms, thus improving the quality of life. Apart from traditional medication & procedures, sometimes patient seek home remedies to treat lymphoma.

The home remedies include the use of herbs such as cleavers that act as a tonic & diuretic for the lymphatic system by getting rid of the toxins in the tissues & cleanses the lymphatic system.

Parsley is a herb that has the ability to shut down or disable an enzyme called as the epithelial growth factor, which is known to stimulate the growth of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Green tea is also believed to have anti-cancer properties that can reduce the tumor growth & help fight non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma cells. EGCG is a component of green tea that has the ability to cut communication cells that cancerous cells need to survive & grow.

Red clover helps in getting rid of the toxins through sweating and is a good home remedy for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Although there is no scientific evidence to prove that red clover can cure cancer but some researchers has found that the isoflavones present in this herb has anti-tumor activity in the test tube.

Pau d’Arco is another herb that is useful in treating the pain of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma patients. Some researchers also claim that it can inhibit non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma cells from growing or getting worse. It also has antiviral, analgesic, laxative, expectorant, anti-inflammatory & antioxidant properties.

Echinacea is a good home remedy for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Echinacea is known to boost the immune system & fight free radicals, viruses & diseases that might compromise the immunity of the non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma patient. It also helps in cleansing the lymphatic system & inter-tissue fluid.

Reishi mushroom have antioxidant properties that can boost the immune system and it is a good home remedy. It also contains beta-glucans that helps inhibit the growth or spread of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Apart from these natural herbs hot & cold baths also help soothe tense muscles & also helps in detoxification of the body. A proper diet that is rich in vitamins & minerals will help body’s defense mechanism to strengthen. Plenty of water & fresh fruit & vegetable juice also help in cleansing your body & getting rid of unwanted toxins & waste products out of your body. Other natural products that are used are licorice that is natural steroid & helps in boosting the body to normal levels.

Quitting smoking is known to weaken the immune system & increase chances of chronic diseases. Eliminating cigarettes allows the body to fight infection more effectively. It also boosts the levels of antioxidants & increases immunity of the body. Milk thistle is also used for different health conditions, mainly for detoxification of the body & improving the function of liver. It is known to increase levels of glutathione in the body that is helpful in boosting metabolic activity of the body.

Iodine also indirectly attacks cancer cells, so daily supplementation of iodine is helpful for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Also taking foods rich in iodine like yogurt, beans, cheese & potatoes is also helpful in fighting non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Lowering stress through meditation & yoga is also found to be helpful in patients suffering from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Stress hormones can exhaust metabolism thus lowering energy levels in your body. Meditation & yoga eliminate excess cortisol from the body that reduces oxidative stress in the body.

By adopting these habits the affected individual can effectively fight cancer but certain type of non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas can be invasive & dangerous that might require professional help & complementary approaches of treatment that include chemotherapy & radiation therapy.
