A study reported that men who consumed green tea had lower levels of cholesterol than men who did not drink green tea. Other studies indicated that the polyphenols of tea block cholesterol absorption in the intestines and even help get rid of it. 2 to 3 cups of green tea is all one needs, which can act as a good home remedy to lower your cholesterol.

Fenugreek seeds

Fenugreek seeds have been used as a common flavoring agent, culinary spice, and a medicinal plant since ages. These seeds are packed with vitamin E and are hailed for their powerful anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, and antioxidant properties. Saponins present in fenugreek help in removing cholesterol from the body while the fiber present in these seeds aid in reducing LDL synthesis in the liver. Consuming ½ to 1 tsp of fenugreek seeds daily is recommended for good health and can also be considered as a home remedy to lower your cholesterol.

Coriander seeds

Coriander seeds have been used in alternative medicine for treating numerous health problems, with high cholesterol being one of them. These seeds contain many key nutrients like vitamins A, vitamin C and folic acid which help to lower bad cholesterol, effectively. Indian gooseberry

Indian gooseberry, is enriched with phenolic compounds, vitamin C, minerals and amino acids. Since ages, this fruit has been used in alternative medicine for treating various diseases. A study compared the effect of Indian gooseberry against cholesterol lowering drugs. It was seen that along with reducing cholesterol, Indian gooseberry also provided the additional benefit of protection against CAD and atherosclerosis. Daily intake of Indian gooseberry not only lowers bad cholesterol levels but also decreases the damage caused due to oxidation. 1 or 2 Indian gooseberry fruits or small quantity of its juice can be consumed per day as a home remedy to lower your cholesterol.
