Milk is also known to be very beneficial for health as it strengthens bones. When milk and turmeric are combined together and used to drink, it works really great! From all the major health benefits of turmeric milk is the benefit for cough. Turmeric milk can be used to get rid of cough, cold and also fever.

Turmeric milk or Haldi ka doodh is used to relieve the discomfort in your throat because of cough or cold. Having a cup of warm turmeric milk in the night before going to bed aids you get good uninterrupted sleep when you have cough or cold. This turmeric milk can also be used for treating toddlers when they have cough or cold. Turmeric milk is also known to treat sore throat. Apart from this, turmeric milk can also be used for treating fever. Milk with turmeric heals the body faster from viral and bacterial infections and helps the patients get back to their normal condition very quickly.

Few Recipes of Turmeric Milk to Soothe Cough:

The basic recipe to prepare turmeric milk is to heat one ½ or 1 inch piece of turmeric for about 15 minutes along with 8 ounces of milk until the milk is almost boiling. Then strain out the turmeric and drink the milk after it has been cooled.

Another best recipe of turmeric milk to soothe cough and also sore throats is to add ½ teaspoon of turmeric and 1 teaspoon of minced ginger to a ¼ cup of water and mix it well. Then top off the cup with milk and microwave or boil this mix for few minutes until the milk almost boils. Let this mixture stand for a few minutes so as to allow the ingredients to mix well with the milk. You can add honey, sugar or cane sugar for taste, to this turmeric milk for cough. If you are adding honey or sugar, you need to mix and re-heat for a few minutes and strain the mixture so as to get rid of pieces of ginger and turmeric. Now, drink this medicinal preparation of turmeric milk for getting rid of cough and sore throat. You can also add few peppercorns along with turmeric and ginger. It is known that peppercorns improve absorption of turmeric well by the body. One more recipe of turmeric milk for cough and also sore throat could be this. Just, take one cup of milk and add sugar to taste and heat it and keep it aside. Then, take ½ teaspoon of ajwain or carom seeds and heat in a non-stick pan for few minutes until it turns brown. Now, to this, add a large pinch of turmeric powder and stir it for couple of seconds. Then, to this add the warmed milk, mix it well and drink while it is hot.
