Increase the Consumption Of Salt In The Diet: One of the effective ways to manage your orthostatic hypotension related symptoms is to increase the consumption of salt in your regular diet. However, at the same time, you should do so carefully and only after you discuss it with your doctor. This is because; consumption of salt in excessive quantity may increase your blood pressure to cause hypertension and create other health risks.

Have Meals In Small Quantities: If the blood pressure goes down after you have your meals, you should discuss with your doctor to have small meals, especially various low carbohydrate-based meals.

Choose To Intake Vitamin Supplements: Deficiency of both vitamin B12 and iron (i.e. anemia problem) may affect the flow of blood in your body and make your symptoms related to orthostatic hypotension worse. In this situation, your doctor suggests you intake vitamin supplements and iron to overcome your deficiency.

However, you should avoid any type of exercise in humid and hot weather. Besides, you should flex and stretch your legs and calves’ muscles before you should sit up. If you find your symptoms striking you, you should squeeze your abdominal, buttock and thigh muscles. Other than this, you should do some marching and squats or simply rise on the tiptoes.(1)
