Natural Treatment For High Blood Pressure

The circulatory system consists of heart and the blood vessels. Blood vessels that bring the blood to the heart are known as veins and the ones that take the blood away from the heart are known as arteries. The function of blood is to transport oxygen, nutrients, hormones, antibodies and many more to different parts of the body. It also carries the waste produces like carbon dioxide, nitrogenous wastes, etc. to the corresponding excretory organs. To perform all these functions efficiently, there should be a minimum pressure in the blood which is referred to as blood pressure without which flow of blood through the blood vessels would be impossible. The pressure in the blood is more near aorta and is least near the end of arteries. The difference in this blood pressure makes it to move easily throughout the body. Due to the elasticity of the arterial walls, the pressure created in the blood vessels is maintained throughout.

Sphygmomanometer is the device used to measure blood pressure by noting two readings. The larger figure out of two is the systolic pressure caused by contraction of the heart and the smaller figure indicates the diastolic pressure that is obtained when the heart relaxes and is the value which is obtained in between two heart beats. The normal blood pressure is having the systolic pressure between 90 to 120 mmHg and diastolic between 60 to 80 mmHg1. The reading below the minimum of these ranges is considered as low blood pressure. Systolic pressure above 140 mmHg and diastolic above 90 mmHg is considered as hypertension or high blood pressure. It is very essential to maintain a blood pressure at the normal level to avoid many serious medical conditions. Other than the medicines, there are certain natural treatments to lower or maintain the blood pressure levels which we will discuss in this article.
